Meeting with donors and providers of technical assistance

Meeting with donors and technical assistance providers (TA D&Ps) was held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan from May 2 to 3, 2024. The purpose of the meeting was to coordinate the efforts of the D&Ps for the implementation of the priority tasks of the development of the national AML/CFT/CPF system in Turkmenistan. The discussion was focused on the Plan of providing TA developed on the basis of the mutual evaluation report.

Chairman of the Financial Monitoring Service under the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Dovran Halbaev made a welcoming speech to the participants of the meeting. High interest to cooperation with the D&Ps in the implementation of the TA Plan and appreciation to the development partners for their assistance was noted. The participants were also welcomed by the EAG Executive Secretary Sergey Teterukov, who called on the D&Ps for active cooperation with national agencies for the implementation of the TA Plan.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Turkmenistan's state authorities, the Egmont Centre of FIU Excellence and Leadership (ECOFEL), the International Training and Methodological Center for Financial Monitoring, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the United Arab Emirates, the United Nations Development Program in Turkmenistan, the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the US Embassy in Ashgabat, the USAID` s Trade Central Asia activity and the World Bank.

During the meeting it was possible to identify donors for a number of items of the TA Plan, as well as deadlines for their implementation. The implementation of the Plan will be carried out through the Single technical assistance coordination information system of the EAG.
