In the course of the visit V.Zubkov met with the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Mr. D.Akhmetov. Meetings were also held with the heads of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Committee of National Security, Ministry of Internal Affairs, The Agency to Combat Economic Crime and Corruption, the Committee of Customs Control, Ministry of Finance, Central Bank as well as with the members of the Mazhilis (lower house) and Senate (upper house) of parliament of Kazakhstan.

The following issues were discussed at the mentioned meetings: the creation of an AML/CFT system in Kazakhstan, specifically the creation of an FIU and adoption of the AML/CFT law. The EAG Chairman informed his counterparts about the experience of creating an AML/CFT system in Russia and other EAG member-states and answered numerous questions. Special attention was given to providing technical assistance to Kazakhstan, including training for the FIU staff, as well as representatives of interested ministries and agencies in Moscow with the involvement of the ITMCFM.
