Vladimir Putin met at the Kremlin with President of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Juan Manuel Vega-Serrano. The meeting was also attended by Rosfinmonitoring Director Yury Chikhanchin

The meeting was held on 26 April 2017.

V. Putin: Mr President, it's a great pleasure to meet with you.

This is the first time your organisation is holding such a big event in Moscow, an event that aims to implement the principles underpinning the anti-money laundering efforts undertaken by the FATF and this "Asian cluster" [Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism], which was established at Russia’s initiative and has been operating with considerable success.

I'm pleased to see that under your presidency, the FATF is strongly committed to the fight against global terrorism, whose importance is hard to overestimate.

It goes without saying that we will do everything in our power to facilitate the fulfilment of the goals you have set.

FATF President Juan Manuel Vega-Serrano:  Good afternoon, Mr President. Thank you very much for your invitation. It's a great pleasure to be here in the Russian Federation.

Thank you for receiving me today. I think this meeting is evidence of Russia's leadership's commitment to the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing, which is of paramount importance.

It's also a pleasure to see Mr Chikhanchin, the head of Russia’s FIU and a top AML/CFT expert whose work is highly valued by the FATF.
